About this treatment

Brow henna gives a fuller, more defined finish than a standard tint, because it stains both the hair and the skin beneath. The effect is particularly flattering if your brows are sparse, patchy or uneven, because the skin staining visually fills the gaps while the hair staining brings depth and colour to whatever growth is there. The overall read is brows that look naturally denser than they actually are.

The henna we use is a professional cosmetic formulation, not the same as the henna used for hair colouring or traditional hand designs. It is gentle, paraben-free, and suitable for most skin types. During consultation we will check whether you have had any reactions to similar treatments in the past, and if you are new to henna, we carry out a quick patch test before the first appointment.

Shade matching matters as much as with tinting, and arguably more, because henna develops a stronger colour. We will talk through tones, show you the shade on the back of your hand, and only apply once you are confident. For most clients, we recommend a shade one or two levels softer than you think you want. Henna reads deeper after 24 hours than it does immediately after the appointment, so what looks right in the mirror at the salon can look a little heavy by the next morning.

The appointment takes around 30 minutes. After a consultation and shade choice, we cleanse the brow area thoroughly, apply a protective barrier to the surrounding skin, and paint the henna into the brow in careful layers. The formula sits for 15 to 20 minutes while the pigments develop, then we cleanse it away and finish with a calming serum.

Results last around two weeks on the skin and up to six weeks on the hair. Because the two fade on different timelines, the look softens gradually and naturally, rather than dropping off all at once. By the time the skin staining has faded, the hair colour is still present, so your brows continue to look well-defined through the full cycle.

Henna pairs particularly well with a shape. Most clients who choose henna book it alongside shaping so the fullness and the precision reinforce each other. It also pairs well with lamination for clients whose brows benefit from both definition and direction.

Aftercare is important with henna for the first 24 hours. Avoid water on the brow area for eight hours to allow the skin staining to fully set. Avoid acid-based skincare, scrubs, and oil-based cleansers on the brow for 24 hours. Avoid saunas, steam and swimming for the first day. After that, the henna is fully settled and you can carry on as usual.

Henna suits clients who want real presence in the brow area and who do not mind the slightly deeper, more visible finish. It is particularly good for women with fine, fair or grey hairs in the brow line that a tint struggles to capture. If you have very oily skin, henna may fade faster than average, and we will talk through realistic timelines during consultation.
